consistency & change

everything changes and yet, in a deeper sense, everything remains the same
consistency is what stays —
the solid ground on which we stand
change is the movement that reshapes forms and paths again and again
without change, consistency would become rigid, lifeless and without expression —
without consistency, change would be unanchored, scattered in endless transformation
consistency often tries to tame change, to guide it into fixed channels —
and in doing so, it takes its breath away
change tries to overcome consistency, only to find itself returning, time and again, to new patterns of the same
the paradox reveals:
no change without consistency —
no consistency without change
each arises in relation to the other, each gives the other meaning
and beyond all opposites?
they are no longer two
consistency is the quiet center of change —
change is the living movement of consistency
like heartbeat and breath, they belong to the same life —
just in different expressions
nature shows this everywhere:
the river flows endlessly, yet remains the same river
the seasons turn, yet the cycle itself stays unchanged
we are never the same —
and yet within us, we sense something that endures through all change
sometimes, consistency gives us safety
sometimes, change gives us freedom
only together do they allow growth without us losing ourselves
a tree stands in the same place for decades, yet grows every day, sheds leaves, and sprouts new ones
its trunk stays rooted, while its crown follows the rhythm of the seasons
where do you experience consistency within change —
and change within consistency—
in your life?
how can you honor both today, without separating one from the other?
